Kim Jones, the current Artistic Director at DIOR, is responsible for some of the biggest releases in streetwear — the DIOR x Air Jordan 1 among the most notable. But before Jones took up seat at the aforementioned atelier, he had his very own set of underrated Nike collaborations, a line-up that’s soon to return with this forthcoming Air Max 95.
“This latest capsule celebrates one of my favorite Nike shoes, the Air Max 95, by looking at the way it could be addressed with modern technology,” Jones stated.
Photographed here by the recently ridiculed — but still well-lauded — Juergen Teller, the collection strikes a solid balance between streetwear and footwear. The two forthcoming colorways of the AM95, however, surely steal the spotlight, bearing a design that loosely imitates the Air Max 360. Details like the perforated upper and the mini-Swoosh are pulled directly from the latter, while the focal “Total Orange” and “Volt” details draw from the 95’s heritage. Elsewhere, the schemes feature inverted gradients at their side and the technical, stretch-woven Nexkin material at the eyestays.
The capsule’s clothing leans more towards the straightforward, relying on bold, enlarged branding. Half-zip tops present athleisure in simple, sold colors, while crewneck tops dress with “Nike Air” along their chest in off-center fashion. Tees, trackpants, and more arrive adjacent, completing a range that’s both luxury and sportswear.
